Create a quote on a customer's behalf

Someone rings up wanting a price. Rather than asking them to go to your website and start again, you build the quote yourself while you have them on the line, then send it over for them to accept in their own time.

Before you start​

  • Have the property address ready. Almost nothing works until the quote has one.
  • You can only quote for products your account offers. If a product is missing from the list, it is not switched on.

Create the quote​

  1. Go to Sales Pipeline → Instant Quotes and open the list for the product you are quoting.
  2. Click the create button in the top right — + Create new battery quote, + Create new heat pump quote, and so on.
  3. For solar, choose a roof editor from the menu: V2 - 2025 roof editor or V3 - 2026 roof editor. V3 is marked beta. Use whichever your team normally works in.

Commercial solar works differently: it asks for the site address and a pin before the quote is created at all. Build a commercial solar quote walks that tool through end to end.

Build it​

You land inside the quote tool — the same one your customer would use on your website, with a row of extra controls along the top. Work through the steps as they would: confirm the address and pin the property, set out the roof, then choose a package.

Everything saves as you go. You can leave and come back to it from the quote list.

caution

A new quote does not appear in your Instant Quotes list until it has an address. If you create one and get interrupted before entering the address, you will not be able to find it again from the list.

Set the recipient​

Click Recipient, then All contacts to search your existing contacts or add a new one. Linking the quote to a contact saves your customer re-entering details they have already given you, and it is what makes personalised emails possible.

The same panel is where you fix the address if you got it wrong. Use Set quote address to change it and Set exact pin to move the map marker onto the right property.

Send it to your customer​

Open Share. You get the quote's public web address, which anyone with the link can open.

  • Click Copy URL to paste it into a message yourself. Optionally choose a step from the dropdown first, and the link will drop your customer straight into that part of the quote tool.
  • Or send it from here: choose General quote template, adjust the wording in Compose email, and click Send.

The email needs a recipient. Without one you see Set a recipient first to send quote emails. and the template stays greyed out.

You cannot accept the quote for your customer. Acceptance is deliberately switched off while you are working inside the quote, so they have to open the link and accept it themselves.

Check it worked​

  1. Go back to the quote list. Your quote carries the Created by Admin tag, and Has Contact Info once you have set a recipient.
  2. Open the shared web address in a private browser window. That is exactly what your customer sees.
  3. If you sent the email, open the quote and click the Last updated timestamp to confirm it is recorded in the Activity log.
