HubSpot Leads on quotes and proposals
HubSpot's Leads now work alongside contacts and deals. A quote or a proposal can be linked to a deal, a lead, both or neither, quote events can create a lead for you, and a linked lead picks up mapped fields, notes and stage moves. Leads need Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise; without them, contact and deal sync carry on exactly as before.
New
- Link a quote or proposal to a HubSpot lead. Choose Link to lead on the quote or proposal and search your leads by name. Deals and leads are linked independently, so you can have one, both or neither.
- Create leads from quote events. Auto-Create Leads in your HubSpot settings sets which quote events create a lead, the pipeline and stage it starts in, an optional Lead Owner, and a Lead Name Template. Proposals never create a lead — they only update one you have linked.
- Keep a linked lead up to date. Sync Leads carries additional field mappings and lead stage updates. A stage move runs when the event matches one of your rules and the lead is already in that pipeline. Leads have no amount field in HubSpot, so no amount is written.
Improved
- Clear wording when Leads are not available to you. If your HubSpot plan does not include Leads, the lead pickers and auto-create are hidden and each lead section says why. If your connection was authorised before Leads support existed, the Connection tab shows a banner and a Reconnect HubSpot button to grant the extra permission. Contact and deal sync continue either way, and no one is forced to reconnect for anything else.
Fixed
- The owner on quote settings is labelled Contact Owner. It sets the owner of the contact, and was labelled Lead Owner — confusing now that there is a separate owner for the lead record.
- Save errors land on the field they belong to. An error about the lead owner appeared against Contact Owner.
- HubSpot settings save when Leads are unavailable. Lead settings you had already saved are kept rather than cleared, and an incomplete lead setting no longer blocks you from saving your contact and deal settings.
