A new residential solar quote, and projects in the portal
New residential solar quotes walk through how the household uses power, the roof, packages, tariffs, and savings. Quotes already in progress can still be finished when they had reached hardware packages. Projects and My Tasks are in the sidebar, marked Beta, and you can offer more than one way to accept a quote or proposal.
New
- Residential Solar Quote Tool. A new quote starts on the address and pin, then When you use power, Electricity bill, Roof, Solar output, Hardware packages, Tariffs, Savings, Return on investment, Add-ons (when you have extras), and Summary. Annual generation follows the MCS irradiance tables unless you change that under Defaults. On When you use power, your customer can say if they charge a vehicle at home and how they heat with electricity, and those loads are added to the bill and placed on the hours they actually happen. Settings: Residential Solar Quote Tool. The journey: What your customer sees.
- Older solar quotes. A quote that had already reached hardware packages can still choose a package, change extras, and be accepted. Earlier quotes ask your customer to start again on the current tool. Very old solar links still show the saved design. You can no longer edit those older quotes in place, and you cannot turn one into a new proposal. Proposals that already exist still open.
- Proposals from the current solar quotes. A new residential quote, and a commercial solar quote, can be turned into a proposal that includes how energy is used, the tariffs, the savings, and the return on investment.
- Projects and My Tasks. Both sit in the sidebar, marked Beta. Sales Pipeline is no longer a group: Instant Quotes, Pricing Calcs, Proposals, and Enquiries sit on their own. Project types are under Settings → Project Management → Project types. A quote or proposal can belong to a project. You can leave comments on a project, quote, proposal, or task. On a project type you can turn on a customer journey; your customer then sees Projects in the Customer Portal as a read-only timeline.
- More than one way to accept. On a quote tool's Acceptance tab, and on a proposal acceptance block, Add another option adds up to three paths (for example a survey and a purchase). Your customer completes one. A single path looks the same as today.
- Explainers. On each quote tool, the Explainers tab (after Custom blocks) can attach a title, text, and video to a step. Your customer opens it from Learn more. You can also open it automatically the first time they reach that step.
Improved
- Roof editor. After you draw a roof, the tool asks for pitch and roof material. You can mark a roof as flat, and flat roofs show a frame under the panels. Set roof direction sets which way the roof faces. The modes are Quick-draw, Approximate, and Installer.
- Custom blocks. Header, footer, and Why choose us content that used to live in the solar layout now sits on Custom blocks. The Layout tab is gone.
- Savings. The before-solar figure is labelled Cost before solar on residential and commercial solar.
- Solar quote PDF. A residential or commercial solar quote PDF is one page per section of the quote, including the roof and the savings charts.
- Listings and settings. Tables open on 50 rows. The settings group is named Hardware, Packages & Pricing. Protect prices is on Overview and Content for both solar quote tools. Web Apps no longer lists the same hosted address twice.
Fixed
- Octopus rates on solar quotes. Import and export prices now use the current direct-debit rate. Some tariffs, including Flexible Octopus and the outgoing export tariffs, were using an older rate or the non-direct-debit price. Time-of-use tariffs use the current band prices rather than an average of older ones.
